welcome

Clear Water Simmentals is owned and operated by Jeff and Leah Meinders and their two sons, Chad and Heath. Since our marriage in 1982, we started off with 15 Purebred Simmental cows, and in 1987 we moved to our present location in Milan, Indiana.

We have expanded in our numbers since 1982. We currently maintain 80 calving cows, most of which are Purebred Simmentals, but have recently started adding the ever so popular Sim-Angus genetics to our program. Each fall we keep the bulls that we feel will fit into our customers' programs. Those bulls are consigned to the Sunset View Family Traditions Bull Sale in February, or sold privately off the farm. The open heifers that are not sold through production sale are developed and bred for replacement heifers into our own herd and marketed at a later time. We are very fortunate to be a member of the Family Traditions Female Sale in the spring and the Land of Lincoln Sale in November.

Our breeding is done predominantly by artificial insemination and with some use of herd bulls, as well as embryo transfer. Our donor battery contains 7-9 donors at any given time. Generally our calf crop is 50% embryo calves, out of our donors and different genetics that are purchased from progressive firms in the business. As a rule of thumb, we incorporate new genetics into our program each year to offer our customers the newest blood lines that the Simmental Breed has to offer.

At Clear Water Simmentals, we strive to produce easy fleshing, functional cattle, that will work for our customers in any setting, whether in the show ring or the pasture making outstanding cows. We stand squarely behind our cattle and look forward to doing business with any new customers.
